Thomas Tuchel’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is in serious doubt after the French club lost the Champions League final to Bayern Munich on Sunday.
Kingsley Coman’s second-half header separated the two sides in the Lisbon final to seal a historic treble for the German club and clinch a sixth European title.
Tuchel masterminded PSG’s route to the final, which included victories over Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta in the first two knockout rounds and a semi-final triumph over RB Leipzig.
But journalist Gianluca Di Marzio told Sky Sports Italia that PSG chiefs are discussing the possibility of ending their association with the German coach following the loss and hiring Massimiliano Allegri as Tuchel’s replacement.
Tuchel has been in charge of the Ligue 1 giants since 2018 and has won back-to-back league titles as well as this year’s French Cup and League Cup.
The 46-year-old coach, who was at Borussia Dortmund before moving to Paris, has won 80 out of his 104 matches in charge of PSG – a win percentage of over 76 per cent.
The French club are also losing captain Thiago Silva this summer, with the Brazilian defender set to sign a two-year deal at Premier League side Chelsea.
Allegri, meanwhile, has been out of a job since leaving Juventus last summer and has been strongly linked with a return to management this year.
The Italian coach has also been named as a potential manager at Inter Milan, should the club relieve current boss Antonio Conte of his duties following their Europa League final defeat to Sevilla this week
At Juventus, Allegri won five consecutive Serie A titles, including four league and cup doubles in a row, while he also reached two Champions League finals with the Turin club.
The 53-year-old has also coached several other teams in Italy, including Juventus’ rivals AC Milan.
