Justice Tanko Muhammad has resigned as the Chief Justice of Nigeria. According to Channels Television, the justice resigned on Sunday night based on ill-health.
The Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the CJN, Ahuraka Yusuf Isah, when asked said, “All I know is that he’s going to declare open a workshop this morning at the NJI (National Judicial Institute).”
Following his resignation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will be the next acting Chief Justice of Nigeria sequel to Senate’s approval.
Muhammad has served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 2005 and was appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2019.
He was formerly a Justice of the Nigerian Court of Appeal.
