Silas Adekunle is a robotics technology entrepreneur and inventor known for creating MekaMon, the world’s first intelligent gaming robot. Silas Adekunle is currently Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Retail Insight (R.I.), a technology company developing quick, secure device, and data platform for industrial automation and IOT. He is also Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Awarri, a company focused on enabling the development and adaptation of advanced Artificial Intelligence & Robotics technology across Africa. Awarri provides educational tools to build an ecosystem that prepares young people for the future of work. With Awarri, Silas is building lasting technology solutions for some of Africa’s biggest challenges.

Silas boasts an extensive career in technology and invention. Asides from Co-founding two growing AI companies, he previously Co-founded Reach Robotics, an augmented reality gaming company that creates robots for gaming and STEM education. Reach Robotics was the creator of the four-legged real-life gaming robot, MekaMon. In 2017, Silas partnered with Apple, signing an exclusive distribution deal to sell MekaMon in both the United States and United Kingdom Apple stores. Before Reach Robotics, Silas worked as Verification Engineering Intern at Infineon Technologies, Bristol, United Kingdom from 2012 to 2013. At Infineon, he created and debugged tests for units of the company’s Multi-Core debugging solutions (MCDS) as well as ran test coverage for the software aspect of verification. Silas was also Student Teacher at the University of the West of England from 2011 to 2012, and Robotics Volunteer Intern at Rusty Squid Limited, where he worked alongside the Rusty Squid engineering group to deliver a global project. In recognition of his work, he was named among Financial Times UK’s Top 100 Minority Ethnic Leaders in Technology and was included in Forbes Europe 30 Under 30 technology list in 2018. Silas was also awarded an Honourary Degree of Doctor of Technology by the University of the West of England in the same year, for his contribution and commitment to student entrepreneurship and technology development. He is regarded as ‘the smartest gaming guru in the world’ by Guardian Nigeria and was the highest-paid and smartest robotics engineer in the world as of September 2018. We celebrate Silas for channeling his lifelong passion for robotics technology into a first-of-its-kind experience. He is open to conversations around the development of STEM, Robotics and A.I. infrastructure across Africa.
