Nigerian music producer, Samklef has accused Banky W of failing to pay royalties for Wizkid’s Superstar album. Wizkid was formerly signed to Banky W’s EME Records, where he released two albums ‘Superstar’ and ‘Ayo’.
In an Instagram live video late Friday, Samklef said he was not properly compensated for his contribution to Wizkid’s hit song, Pakurumo, off the Superstar album. The producer also said that Banky W told Wizkid to remove his name as a contributor in the song.
However, on Twitter, he wrote: ”Claiming all my 11 years royalties for WiZkid super star album in a bit. My Laywers will reach out. It’s 50/50. Anybody wey don collect my money better reach out o! Samkef fine were o! Make dem tag Banky o! My money go don plenty o! Before him go use am campaign for election.”
Samklef’s reaction came after Banky W claimed that still Wizkid owes his labels three albums before he exited EME.
In Banky’s interview with BBN’s Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, he said: “There’s no need for us to try and tie him down. It was a five-album deal in the beginning and he had done two solo albums. He still owed three, but he wanted to leave. I don’t want anyone to stay when they don’t want to.”
Samklef further claimed that the interview was staged, as Banky and the show host were close friends.
