Nnamdi Kanu: The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has
demanded N50 billion from the Federal Government and the Attorney-General of the
Federation for the alleged violation of his rights.
Kanu filed the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/462/2022, on Thursday through his lead counsel,
Mike Ozekhome, against the FG and Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation.
Kanu sought the court to declare that his abduction and extraordinary rendition to Nigeria
without being subjected to extant extradition proceedings/hearing in Kenya where he was
abducted, is a clear violation of Article 12(4) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples
Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act CAP A9, LFN 2004.
Previously on June 29, 2021, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice,
Abubakar Malami had called a press conference announcing Kanu’s arrest. This was followed
by his arraignment before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
