It’s another Friday, and as usual, we’ve got new music trickling out from both the international and local space. This week is pretty packed, I mean, which week isn’t (haha). We’ve got Tiwa Savage and dancehall act, Patoranking, releasing their third studio album. Loads of singles were also released today . Without further ado, let’s get right into dissecting some of the music that has been let loose today for your listening pleasure
Celia – Tiwa Savage (Album)
Named after her mum, Tiwa Savage gives us the follow-up to her critically acclaimed second studio album, ’Red.’, which dropped in 2016. Four years might be pretty much of a gap between her last, but the 40years old didn’t give much room for fans and music lovers to feel the effect of not dropping an album within that period. The churning out of great singles was enough to fill the void. Celia is a 13 track project that explores the many facets of womanhood. Infused with her traditional sound, Afrobeats, R&B, and soul, Tiwa teams up with several music acts, including; Davido, Naira Marley, Hamza, Steflon Don, Dice Ailes. International pop musician Sam Smith was the delightful feature on the album as they rendered the song.’ Temptation ’ together on track two.
Three- Patoranking (Album)
Patoranking drops his third studio album,” Three.” The album is a follow-up to his 2016 sophomore album, ’Wilmer.’ Laced with 12 tracks that span over 40 minutes, the Ebonyi indigene explores the themes of love, life, and Joy. Kenyan music group, Sauti Sol lend their hands-on track 3, while Afrobeats diva, Tiwa Savage renders her lovely vocals on track no 7, ’matter.’ Patoranking also enlists other acts, such as Flavour and King Promise. The album is a combination of highlife, reggae, afro beats, and r&b. It’s one to check out.
Slow Burner -Larry Gaga ft Joeboy
Industry entrepreneur, Larry Gaga teams up with the budding afro-beats act, Joeboy, for his new single ’ Slow Burner.’ The track comes after Larry Gaga’s socio conscious single.’ Hold on ’, which he dropped in June, featuring veteran rapper, Mi Abaga, and Ghanaian singer, Efya. Larry Gaga enrolls the service of Joeboy on this new track, a feel-good track that’s worth checking out
Senseless- Laycon
Current Big Brother Naija housemate, Laycon, has released a new single titled ‘Senseless.’ With the University of Lagos graduate still in the house, it was only right for his management to jump on the buzzing hype by letting a track from his unreleased folder go. Laycon has been tipped by many to win the reality show. The song is available on all platforms
Saturn – Victony (EP)
Laced with six tracks that span over 15 minutes, upcoming act, Victony dishes out afrobeat at its best with this Ep. The Ep features rapper Falz, who is known for doing justice when he is a guest on a track. On this one, he wasn’t devoid of that as he undoubtedly brought his A-Game the song. This Ep is just another testament of how Nigerian acts are creating solid music with the afrobeat genre.
