Cynthia Morgan finally completes her comeback cycle, following her hiatus, as Adekunle Gold who seems to be thriving with his newly found sound and style gives us his third album. Falz is also back in his socio-political bag as he drops his second official single after the success of the stupendous ’Bop Daddy’ single, earlier in the year. It’s the penultimate week of the month of August and as usual, we have new music trooping in from all parts of the country. We take a dive into some of the albums, eps, and singles that have dropped today. Enjoy
Adekunle Gold – Ag Baby (Album).
Adekunle Gold drops his third studio album, Ag Baby. Laced with 10 tracks, we get to hear a different side from the ex- Ybnl act, who takes a break from his mellow Soul/ Highlife sound. Adekunle announced his delve into the-pop with the release of Something new and followed it up with ‘Ag Baby’. Both tracks are included on the album. The album is albeit short, just 30 minutes long, an unusual number for a 10track project. Features on the track include; Tekno, Patoranking, Olayinka Ehi, and Nailah Blackman.
Dj Cuppy – Original Cuppy( Album)
After months of teasing, Dj Cuppy finally let go of her debut album ’Original Cuppy. The Pepsi Ambassador lays down her vocals on a number of songs while allowing featured artists to full control of some others. The album consists of 10 tracks that span over 30 minutes, the catchy thing about the album is the feature list. Both international and local acts are featured on the project, budding acts such as Rema, Fireboy, and Darkoo are included on the album. Veteran Afro-Juju maestro, Shina Peters was also enlisted on the project. Other acts featured on the album include; Stoneboy, Teni, Ycee, Msbanks, Julian Marley, Wyclef Jean, and Seyi Shay
3) Falz – Trouser
Having released release of ‘Bop Daddy’, earlier in the year, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz The Bahd Guy is back with new music, ‘Trouser’.The socio-political conscious rapper and actor who recently launched his movie production studio and presently featured in his newly launched series, Therapy. Falz is back in his socio-political bag with this song. The song is produced by Bizztouch
Fireboy – Apollo (Album)
Although released on Thursday, the need to include this project on our list is still quite valid for obvious reasons. In a surprising turn of events, on August 12 , Fireboy released a new single – his third of the year, as, at the time, the release came alongside the announcement of his sophomore album. The album is the follow-up to his debut work, ‘Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps.’ The album comprises 17tracks, he also enlisted a number of artists, unlike his debut where no music act was featured.
Cynthia Morgan – Hustle
Cynthia Morgan finally completes the cycle of a comeback by activating her new single titled Hustle produced by Chopstix. News broke out a while back about why she had been quiet for a long time and a series of fortunate events have all led to this defining moment of her career. If you thought you didn’t miss Cynthia, This song will bring back your lost memories of the charismatic dance-hall machine that she was and still is.
