‘Battle on Buka Street’ by Nigerian filmmaker, Funke Akindele is now Nollywood’s highest-grossing film ever with N640 million.

Funke Akindele is now officially the first and only Nigerian filmmaker to make over N500 million twice.

According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) the comedy-drama has earned over N640 million after spending only nine weeks in theatres.

The movie is now the highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time. This title was previously held by ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’, also made by Funke Akindele.

The actress is also breaking records beyond Nigeria. Her movie earned over $60,000 in the US, despite showing in only 11 locations.

“Battle on Buka Street” is also the first-ever Indigenous Nollywood movie released in the United States. It was also released in the United Kingdom.
