Freddy Rincon, former Real Madrid and Colombia captain, has been left in a critical condition

after being involved in a car crash. The crash happened in the city of Cali on Tuesday, April 12,

leaving Freddy with severe head injuries.

“Freddy Rincon arrived in hospital this morning with a traumatic brain injury. His condition is

very critical,” said the Imbanaco Clinic in a statement.

Four others in the vehicle were also injured following the crash. The bus driver was also left

with several injuries.

Rincon’s car clashed with the bus around 4.30am in Cali, Colombia’s southwest.

Rincon’s close friend Hamilton Ricard, who is also a former footballer spoke to journalists at the

hospital. In his statement, if Rincon is saved, he will have a lot of side-effects.

“We are praying for God to put his hands on Freddy, the doctors have said the truth.”

Real Madrid also wished Rincon a speedy recovery.

“All our strength and affection goes out to Freddy after the accident today,” they tweeted.

55-year old Rincon played for Colombian sides Santa Fe and America. He also had spells with

Italian club Napoli and Spanish giants Real Madrid.
