Borussia Dortmund have told Manchester United that they will not sign Jadon Sancho before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The European transfer window closes on Monday with the Red Devils still harbouring hopes to bring the England winger back to the Premier League.
United have failed to meet Dortmund’s terms throughout the summer – both on the club’s £108million asking price, and also with regards BVB wanting a deal done by early August.
Dortmund have continually made clear that Sancho will remain at the Westfalenstadion until next summer.
However, United chiefs have continued to push their interest in getting a deal over the line – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still keen to land his No.1 target.
Intermediaries have claimed that a new offer of £90million was made in the past week – although United sources however told Mirror Football that such an offer had not been made.
Sancho, 20, missed Dortmund’s German Super Cup defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek with a respiratory issue.
Asked about his future on Friday, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc once more made clear that BVB’s position hasn’t changed – insisting that Sancho will be going nowhere in the window’s remaining days.
“Of course we communicated with Manchester United in the past,” declared Zorc.
“But everything there is to tell on this matter from our end has already been said.
“And that won’t change over the next three days.”
Dortmund chiefs have seen United linked with their former player, Ousmane Dembele, as an alternative in the past week.
But with Barcelona not keen on loaning him out, and United not keen on a permanent transfer, Zorc and co. have reckoned that any speculation over the World Cup winner is merely misdirection from United, in the hope of getting them to drop the price on Sancho.
Early in the summer, United boss Solskjaer had been left unhappy at Woodward’s desire to open the bidding for Sancho at an initial £50million.
And the United executive vice-chairman has shown little inclination to go anywhere near Dortmund’s valuation, of a player who scored 20 goals and provided 20 assists in 44 games for the North Rhine club last season.
