The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied rumours of Godwin Emefiele’s sack by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Godwin Emefiele is the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Early on Wednesday, rumours spread fast that the CBN Governor had been relieved of his position by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari following his presidential ambition.
According to CBN’s Head, Corporate Communications Mr Osita Nwanisiobi, he was not aware and only heard the news. “I heard it just the way you got it too. As far as I am concerned, it’s a rumour. I’m not aware of any sack.”
Other staff of the CBN have also claimed they are not aware of Emefiele’s sack as alleged widely.
However, according to The Nation, a staff said: “The Governor left to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland immediately after the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) briefing”
