Governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed has tested positive for coronavirus. The news was made known to the public by his media aide, Muktar Gilado in a statement on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
The governor is said to have contracted the virus from the son of former vice president, Mohammed Abubakar who was confirmed to have contracted the virus following a return from the UK on Monday.
The two were said to have met prior before Mohammed tested positive to the virus. The aide of the governor, Gilado statement read “At this point, it should be noted that the governor is in self-isolation as his doctors and officials from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have taken full charge of his quarantine,” Gidado called for prayers on the governor’s behalf and urged those who have made recent contact with him to immediately self isolate and get tested.
With this development, Nigeria has officially confirmed 44 positive cases of the virus in seven states – Lagos (29), FCT (8), Ogun (3), Ekiti (1), Oyo (1), Bauchi (1)and Edo (1).
