North-West governors shut schools for 30 days as precautionary motive to curtail coronavirus in the region.

North-West Governors have agreed to close down schools in the region as a measure to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The governors say closing has become imperative to prevent the spread of the virus in the region. The governors after a closed-door meeting in Kaduna on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, said, closing the schools for 30 days has become necessary to prevent the spread of the virus in the region.

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, who is the Chairman of the forum read the communique shortly after the meeting, saying the closure would take effect from Monday, 23rd of March 2020.

North Central governors have also decided to shut schools in their states as a precautionary measure against the spread of Coronavirus. It should be noted that a suspected case of the virus in Katsina state was deemed to be negative on Wednesday 18th, 2020 after testing.
