Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, was not included in the list of presidential aspirants to be screened by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Earlier in April, when supporters requested that he contest in the 2023 presidential race, Jonathan gave no definite response. Rather, he said,
“You are calling me to come and declare for the next election. I cannot tell you I’m declaring. The political process is ongoing. Just watch out,” he had said.
Following this, a northern group bought the APC presidential expression of interest and nomination forms for Jonathan, but he said he knows nothing about the purchase.
While many had raised speculations about his decision to run for the 2023 presidential race, Jonathan is still yet to give a precise response.
According to Felix Morka, APC spokesman, 28 presidential forms were purchased, but three persons — Chris Ngige, minister of labour; Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum: and Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) — did not submit their forms. He said a form was also got for AFDB president, Akinwumi Adesina, but he said he was not interested in contesting for the office of the President.
